Thursday 10 October, 2024
The development of the new Willenhall and Darlaston railway stations continues to make strong progress, with the project remaining on schedule. These stations, part of the West Midlands Combined Authority’s (WMCA) efforts to improve regional transport links, are set to boost connectivity across the area.
At Willenhall, key milestones have been achieved, including the completion of important groundwork and preparation for structural works as well as platform foundations. Construction is progressing as planned, with significant works set to continue over the coming months.
Similarly, Darlaston Station is advancing well. Key infrastructure, such as platform foundations and car park preparations, are on course, with further progress expected soon.
Both stations remain within budget, and WMCA continues to focus on delivering these stations efficiently, ensuring they provide a crucial boost to the local transport network.
Victoria Kinally, Project Sponsor commented: “We are pleased with the progress made so far on both Willenhall and Darlaston stations. While there have been challenges, our teams are working hard to keep the project on track and deliver these important stations, which will significantly improve transport connectivity in the region.”
As we move forward, WMCA remains committed to ensuring these stations are delivered on time and within budget, providing local communities with enhanced transport links that will support economic growth and sustainable development in the West Midlands.
