Help design a community mosaic

Perry Barr station

We’re asking the Perry Barr community to help us design a mosaic that will be installed at the recently rebuilt Perry Barr railway station.

Come along to our workshop and design a clay tile. The tiles will be brought together to create the mosaic, which will look like the station sign but feature words and shapes that represent the local community.

We are working with Transport for West Midlands and partners in the creation of the mosaic, which will mark the 1-year anniversary of the opening of the new station.

The mosaic is being put together by Artyface, who specialise in creating community-led pieces of art.

How to get involved

We are running a free to attend pop-up session at Perry Barr railway station on Sunday 2 April, 12-2pm.

Bring along any items you’d like to use to print your tile. For example:

  • textured buttons or badges
  • jewellery
  • mehndi stamps
  • wooden and rubber stamps
  • toys, such as lego
  • shells
  • an item that is important to you.

We’d like the mosaic to represent the people and culture of Perry Barr so get creative with the items you bring. Almost any item can be pressed into the clay.

As well as our pop-up event, we’re working with local community group Birchfield Big Local and Birchfield Library to create tiles, so we can reach as any many local people as possible.
